Olivia Lopez is an artist and geographer currently studying for a BA in Fine Art at the Slade School of Fine Art in London. Their practice is concerned with landscape, approaching the environment as a microcosm of geopolitics through the site materialising its history and social climate.
​
In recent years their focus has shifted to infrastructure, concerned with their abstracting properties on landscape manipulating our perception of distance, speed and time. Infrastructure, from locomotives to cartography, is further explored symbolically through the lens of promise and progress of modernity, expressed through its visually seductive properties of smoothness, symptomatic of efficiency, clarity, and control.

Olivia’s practice produces artwork that performs as diagrams, imitating the reductive properties of our built environment, or revealing its clumsy, violent, and manipulative processes.
